Helping Our People Succeed
The most important factor in career success in CharterMason is mentorship. The role of the mentor is as:
- Coach: Helping the individual develop the skills required for survival in CharterMason.
- Advocate: To actively promote the individual’s cause in CharterMason – finding the right opportunities and ensuring they are supported for promotions.
- Mirror: To help the individual reflect on how they’re performing and understand their own development progress & needs
CharterMason provides a development environment that recognises the P&L dimensions of performance (Sell & Deliver) and the Balance Sheet dimensions (People Development and Brand Value).
CharterMason’s primary business objective is to increase Partner value by achieving sustainable growth in profit after tax. The company believes that the primary means to achieve this objective is through the effective development and application of its human resources.
Consultant Selection and Promotion
Appointments and promotions must be based on an individual’s ability to meet the requirements of vacant positions as well as his/her ability to embrace our values. Preference should be given to CharterMason group consultants when filling vacancies. Partners will be the sole decision makers in all new appointments as all new appointments will form part of a Partner’s team. The responsible Partner will take responsibility for the effective development and application of the new appointee.
Consultant Training and Development
CharterMason employs quality consulting professionals hence we believe individuals should continuously invest in the training and development of themselves to improve their work performance, expertise and capability. CharterMason will consider this capital investment as the responsibility of every professional consultant, and will support it favourably as a cost in securing their income.
CharterMason specific development is provided both with CharterMason’s own resources and with the use of appropriate outside resources.
Communication
CharterMason acknowledges the vital part that effective communication plays in running a successful business. Communication also plays an important role in motivating consultants to identify with the values and aims of the company. CharterMason Partners give special attention to this and foster open and effective communication between all consultants.
Partners establish communication forums where consultants as individuals, teams and groups have the opportunity to make suggestions, and receive timely feed back.
CharterMason constantly develops new communication tools to host discussion forums, templates, documentation and all General requirements to provide a true and unique Virtual Office environment.
Consultant Representation
CharterMason subscribes to the principle of freedom of association, which includes the right of dissociation and non-association. It therefore acknowledges the right of individual consultants to decide as to whom they wish to represent their interests.
Remuneration
CharterMason manages its remuneration policies with the objective of attracting and retaining consultants who are capable of performing to CharterMason’s high standards of competency. Conditions of service will be based on acceptable norms for the industry and geographic locations.
CharterMason developed its own unique Risk/ Reward remuneration models to drive the desired CharterMason behaviour. These models, enable consultants to select a risk/ reward profile that suits their requirements when they join the practice. The consultant can increase his risk profile on an annual basis as he makes progress in becoming a Professional Consultant.
Security of Employment
CharterMason is sensitive to the hardships brought about by retrenchments and will only use retrenchment as a last option when business changes require restructuring of human resources. In cases where retrenchment is unavoidable, timely notice of such an intention will be communicated to affected consultants. Such consultants will be consulted as to suitable alternate employment and every effort will be made by the company to find such employment.
Quality of Life
CharterMason works actively towards improving the quality of life of consultants within and, to the extent that it is practical, outside the working environment. This requires Partners to have a general awareness of consultant needs and aspirations and to have a willingness to help them achieve a satisfying life.
