Project Description
RailCorp, as Sydney’s metropolitan railway network, was involved in the setup and planning for the World Youth Day held in July 2008. This is a six day celebration of universal solidarity amongst youth in the Catholic Church. The event attracts up to 250,000 pilgrims from around the world. An estimated 80% of these were expected to travel by rail within the Sydney region.
This project was undertaken to ensure that all RailCorp operations were at maximum capability for this event.
Charter Mason project managed scheduling services to help RailCorp deliver its transport solutions for the event. This included setting up, scheduling and monitoring of all the business units involved in providing transport for the event, from timetabling to track maintenance, security and station operations etc.
